The Southern Delta Aquariids Meteor Shower

A strong shower for the Southern Hemisphere, known for relatively slow and faint meteors. Overlaps with the Perseids.

The Southern Delta Aquariids meteor shower is active annually from 12 Jul to 23 Aug, with its peak activity typically occurring around 30 Jul. Currently, the shower is active.

The radiant, the point in the sky from which the meteors appear to originate, is located in the constellation Aquarius. This shower is best observed from the Southern Hemisphere. It is considered a faint shower and is known for producing up to 25 meteors per hour (ZHR) at its peak. The meteors from this shower strike the atmosphere at an average speed of 41 km/s.
